Mrs. Zelma R. Thornburg, 86, of Kalkaska, died Friday afternoon, Jul 19, 1991 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Thornburg was a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, and enjoyed music and playing the piano.
She was born in Kalkaska County on Sep 13, 1904 to Darwin and Matilda Hagni Lewis. On Nov 30, 1923, in Anderson, IN, she was married to Dewey Thornburg, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1958.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Ruth Ann Thornburg, and one sister, Bertine Brown.
She is survived by four sons, Darwin, Walter, Kenneth, and Ronald Thornburg, all of Kalkaska; two daughters, Esther Sherwood of Kalkaska and Wilma Lindahl of Fife Lake; one brother, Melburn of Kalkaska; two sisters, Elaine Barnes and Esther Beebe, both of Kalkaska; 28 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Mon, Jul 22, 1991, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Richard Jones, pastor of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
