Willis J Lee, 80, of Mancelona, died Sun, Jan 30, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
A mechanic, he was retired from Dowell in Kalkaska where he had worked for many years.
A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Army. Having lived in several towns in Michigan, he spent the majority of his adult working life in Kalkaska, moving to Mancelona three years ago.
The son of Robert E. and Virginia (Barrow) Lee, he was born Sep 28, 1919, in Mancelona. On Jul 8, 1939, in Atlanta, MI, he married Leila McConnell, who preceded him in death in 1978. Also preceding him in death were brothers Delbert, twin Willard, and Lloyd; and sisters Mildred Cornish, Goldie Lee and Velma Lee.
Surviving are sons Willie K (Millie) of Bellaire and Lloyd (Alice) of Saline; daughters Pat Szymchack and Dee Lee, both of Kalkaska; brother Robert (Donna) of Mancelona; sisters Ramona Ford of Grand Rapids, Lois (Delos) Rulapaugh of Alba, and Rebecca Hill of Traverse City; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 11 am Wed, Feb 2 at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes; Sr. Celine Goessl officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
