William R. Morton, 79, of Kalkaska formerly of Romeo, died Sun, Sep 24, 2000 at the home of his daughter.
He was born in Terre Haute, IN on Sep 27, 1920, the son of Ralph and Edith Jeffers Morton.
Mr. Morton was employed as a welder by General Motors prior to his retirement, and resided in Romeo until 1985. He made his home in Kalkaska for the past 12 years. Mr. Morton was Army veteran of WWII, and served in the China Burma India Campaign. He was a member of Land O' Lakes VFW Post 8684.
Surviving are sons Curtis Morton of Kalkaska, Jeffrey Morton of Romeo, and Peter Morton of Port Huron; daughter, Lynn Morton of Kalkaska; sisters Mary Holmes of Kalkaska and Martha Powell of Schererville, IN; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A gathering in memory of the life of William Morton will be at 1 pm Thu, Sep 28 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The service will be under the auspices of Land O' Lakes VFW Post 8684. Inurnment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 am Thursday until the time of services.
