William H. "Bill" Hoerr, 70, of Morton, IL, died at 4:29 a.m. Mon, Nov 29, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born Aug 17, 1934, in Peoria to Emil and Frieda Binkele Hoerr. He married Ruth A Tanner on Jun 12, 1971, in Edwards, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Peoria; sons, Brett Hoerr and Andrew Hoerr, both of Morton; daughter, Becky (Brent) Lawles of Rossville, IN; brother, Jerry (Marie) Hoerr of Peoria; and grandson Braden Lawles.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Hoerr received a degree in mechanical engineering in 1956 from Bradley University in Peoria. He retired in 1999 from management at Komatsu, where he had worked for 42 years. He was a member of the Retirees Club. He also was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
He served with the Air National Guard. He attended Grace Evangelical Church in Morton and belonged to the Barnabas Fellowship Group. He also attended Bear Lake Christian Church in Kalkaska.
He was a member of the Peoria Us Too Prostate Cancer Support Group and its steering committee; a longtime member and past president of the Tazewell County Veterans Memorial Fair Association Board and a 4-H Leader for 25 years.
Services were held Fri, Dec 3, at Grace Evangelical Church in Morton, with the Rev. Doug Habegger and the Rev. Dan Peterson officiating. Burial was in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
The family was served by Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, IL.
