William Gerold “Bill” Cole, age 89, of Hillsdale and formerly of Argyle, Michigan, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born April 17, 1923 in Argyle, Michigan to William Russell and Francis (Clapsaddle) Cole. Bill married Alice Craddock on November 8, 1942 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2006.
Bill proudly worked as a tool and dye maker at numerous shops, including Allied Plant in Hillsdale. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. Bill enjoyed square dancing with the Hills and Dales square dancing group. He was an avid motorcycle and dirt bike rider and enthusiast. Bill also enjoyed wintering in Pharr, Texas for 25 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Deb Cole of Hillsdale and Barbara (Robert) Schulz of Mt. Morris, Michigan; a son, W. Jerald (Mary Ann) Cole of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Marie Bernier of Allen Park, Michigan; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren and a half brother, James Cole of Florida.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edith and a brother, Harvey.
A memorial visitation for William “Bill” Cole will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 2-5 pm at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Perennial Park Senior Services Center in Hillsdale.
