William E. Bowman, 70, 318 W. North St, died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Bowman, who was a lifelong Hartford City resident, graduated from Hartford City High School in 1943 and attended Ball State University, Muncie. He owned and operated Blue Top Restaurant, which later was known as North Star Drive-In, and also owned Hoosier Pete and Bowman’s Package Store before selling his business in 1973. He owned Beerco, which later was known as The Beer Company, before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 625 and Moose Lodge 225.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Alice Carll Bowman; a brother, Tom Bowman (wife: Elsie), Long Beach Island, NJ; two nephews, Thomas R. Bowman II (wife: Ann), and Paul William Bowman (wife: Lisa), both of Elkins Park, and several great nieces and nephews.
There will be no services or calling.
