William E. Stebbins, 85, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of Kalkaska, died Sat, Dec 25, 1993, in Palm Bay.
Mr. Stebbins started farming in rural Kalkaska in 1932. He retired from farming, and with his brother, Robert, started Stebbins Hardware in 1957. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, and served for many years as a trustee. Mr. Stebbins served on many school, township, and county boards, and was a member of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church.
Born in Millington Township on Jun 13, 1908, he was th eson of Ernest and Lucille Wilson Stebbins. He married Anna Bell Butler on Jun 28, 1929, and she died in Sep 1948. He then married Pearl Anderson in Jul of 1949, and she preceded him in death on Apr 19, 1968. on Dec 27, 1968, in Grayling, he was married to Grace Newell who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Lawrence of Fruitport, Allen of Bridgeport, and Ronald of St. Johns; six daughters, Kathryn Clark of Marion, IN, Wilma Wilcox of Metamora, Athelia Hoagman of East Tawas, Darlene Harris and Gayle Fink both of Perry, and Annette Alford of Onondaga; one sister, Bernice Stults of FL; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Four brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Thu, Dec 30, 1993, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Peter Nieuwkoop officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
