William Earl Harwood, 82, of Fife Lake, died peacefully Aug 6, 1999, at his home surrounded by his devoted family.
Born Mar 14, 1917, in Chatham, Ontario, he is the son of Earl and Evelyn (Horn) Harwood. On Jan 12, 1944, in Wayne County, Detroit, he married Genevieve Forton.
William served in WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a pipe fitter with Frank Kurrle Plumbing and Pipe Fitting for 29 years and was a member of Detroit Local 636. He retired at the age of 59 in 1976 and enjoyed all outdoor activities.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, Margaret (Michael) Birgy, Bonnie (David) Gonyer, and Sheree (Mark) Stein, all of Fife Lake; son William (Diana) Harwood of Sterling Heights; 12 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Betty Mossop; and granddaughter Rebecca Ann Gonyer.
Funeral services were Aug 9 at Covell Funeral Home, Terry Birgy officiated. burial was in Fife Lake Cemetery.
