William Donald Stacy, 88, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, passed away on Nov 6, 2023.
William was born on Feb 2, 1935, in Brown City to Ellis and Mabel (Jeffers) Stacy. He graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1953. Bill went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University and his master’s degree from Wayne State University. He worked for Lapeer Community Schools for 35 years retiring in 1993. During his tenure with the Lapeer Schools, he taught social studies & English and was a counselor for many years. Bill had a serving soul and loved the kids he taught and mentored. Bill was born and raised on a farm and farmed his entire life in some capacity – in fact if asked what his life work was, Bill would answer that he was a teacher, counselor, and farmer. In his spare time he enjoyed bamboo pole fishing and cars.
Bill is survived by eighteen nieces & nephews and innumerable great nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters: Lila Mitchell, Nellie Setter and Margaret Schriber; brothers: Bob Stacy, Stan Stacy, and George Stacy; six nieces & nephews and his aforementioned parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Thu, Nov 9, 2023, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Bill’s funeral service will be held at 11 am Fri, Nov 10, 2023, at Muir Brothers. His family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am the morning of the service. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Brown City, will immediately follow the service.
