William Charles Calkins, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away suddenly at his home on Jun 3, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Marjorie Calkins, daughter, Stephanie Calkins, son William Charles Calkins Jr, brother Pat Calkins, and sister Marianne Hewitt. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Courchesne Calkins, daughter, Connie (Steve) Bennett, son Christopher (Kelly) Calkins, daughter Millicent Kasik, son Jonathan Calkins, special niece Kimberly (Jason) York, brothers, John (Arleen) Calkins and Stephen (Sherri) Calkins, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews, and so many others who lived him. Bill was born in Detroit, MI, on Mar 3, 1939. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Dunedin, FL, where he began his career as a bag boy at Winn-Dixie. He retired a Division President and Vice President of the company in Jacksonville after 42 years. After his retirement, he moved back to the Tarpon Springs area to enjoy his grandchildren, and he took up woodworking and fixing up houses. Bill was a Mason and was active in many community organizations, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, and the Jacksonville Zoo. He was a loyal, kind soft spoken, and compassionate man and will be sincerely missed by so many. A memorial service will be held at Michels-Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34652, at 4:30 pm on Sat, Jun 6
