William Burton “Burt” Vance, peacefully in his daughters arms, and with the kind attentions of Helen Henderson care Centre Staff, family members and friends, Sunday, January 18, 2004 in his 81st year. Burt was born on a Thomasburg, Ontario, farm to Dora (Holbert) and William Vance; graduated from Tweed High School, married Beryl (Godfrey) of Mountain Grove, and served his country in the RCAF during the Second World War. Burt is predeceased by his parents, brothers Horace and Arthur, his sister, Jeanne, and his beloved Beryl. Devoted sisters, Betty and Carolyn and good brother Jack, grateful son Baden and his wife Penny, loving daughter Barbara and her husband Greg, together with special and unique grandchildren Donna, Zachary, and Peter, Aglaia and Sebastian. Friends are invited to call at the Cassidy Funeral Home, Tweed, on Wednesday, January 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Burt’s life, led by the Rev. Anne Quick, will take place at St. James Anglican Church, Tweed, on Thursday, January 22 at 11 am. Lunch to follow. Donations appreciated to St. James Church or Tweed Minor Hockey. A Memorial Service will follow at a later date at Helen Henderson Care Centre, Amherstview.
