William "Bill" A Pflum, 88, of Kalkaska passed away peacefully on Sun, May 21, 2006, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center LTC.
Born on Jul 20, 1917, in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Andrew and Carrie (Zapf) Pflum.
Bill married Georgetta Wagonschutz on Dec 28, 1940, in Mancelona. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp before his military service.
Bill joined the US Navy during WWII and was an honorable veteran. He worked at the Kalkaska County Road Commission and retired from there. Bill was a former road commissioner for Kalkaska County.
Bill was a member of St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, the VFW Post No 8684 in Kalkaska, and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
Bill was a former pilot, a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, and enjoyed watching all kinds of sports. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving Bill is his daughters, Bonnie (Art) Grisham of Tucson, AZ, Barbara (Chuck) Weinrick of Marquette, Judy (Dan) Prokup of Kalkaska, Sandra (Hoss) Hills of Farwell, and Sue (John) Tanner of Kalkaska; 10 grandchidlren; 17 great grandchildren; siblins, Frank (Rose) Pflum of Kalkaska, Mary (Herman) Koldstedt of Harrison, OH, and Betty (Charles) Elberts of Cincinatti, OH.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Georgetta; and his grandson, Kevin John Tanner.
Visitation will be on Thu, May 25, from 6 to 9 pm with an 8 pm scripture service followed by the Knights of Columbus Rosary at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Fri at 11 am at St Mary of the Woods, with Rev James Barrand officiating. Burial will be at Excelsior Township Cemetery.
