Wilbur Wesley Pitz, 74, died Sep 26, 1998, at Munson Medical Center.
Mr. Pitz was a lifelong resident of Fife Lake. he was employed by Cactus drilling in Kalkaska and also logged for many years.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corp and Stationary Fireman in Europe from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of Worldwide Church of God and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Wilbur was born in Springfield Township, Kalkaska County on Feb 8, 1924, to Chris and Pearl Spurgeon Pitz. On Sep 19, 1948, he married Evelyn Marie Hicks in South Boardman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by children Carol Chafee, Wayne Pitz, Susan Park, Barbara Helsel, and John Pitz, all of Lake City, Fredrick Pitz of South Boardman, David Pitz, Arthur Pitz, and James Pitz all of Fife Lake, and Judy and Shirley Pitz of Morristown; 25 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and sisters and brothers, Annie Cunningham, Henry Pitz, Freda Perrigo, Nondis Hutchinson and El Deana Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and brothers Emma Sloat, Mabel Imhausen, Fredrick Pitz, and Bob Pitz.
Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled. Arrangements were made by Hibbard-Ruggles Funeral Home, Inc.
