Weldon Eugene Bumpus passed away May 10, 2000, at his home in Kalkaska County.
The youngest of nine children, he was born to James and Ardelia (Kennedy) Bumpus on Oct 19, 1912, in Hillsdale County.
He married Shirley Anne Moss in Jackson on Aug 2, 1947.
Mr. Bumpus as a devoted employee of Peter Eckrich and Sons beginning in 1937 as a utility man and mechanic at the Jackson Plant. In 1956 he was promoted to fleet supervisor and transferred to Kalamazoo, residing in Plainwell.
After 17 years he was sent to the new plant in Quincy from which he retired in 1975.
He then moved to Fife Lake.
He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, and feeding the birds for many years. He was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed playing cards.
An active member of Bear Lake Christian Church in Kalkaska he served as president of the official board, and was a deacon and head usher for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years Shirley; daughters Fae Ann (Doan) Moore of Gowen; Susan Bumpus of Tucson AZ, and Cheryl (Chris) Everline of Quincy; sons James (Terri) Bumpus of Conroe, TX; Thomas (Ellen) Bumpus of LaQuinta, CA; special daughter in law Linda Susan Bumpus.
He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be at 12:30 pm, Sun, May 21 at Bear Lake Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bear Lake Christian Church, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Hospice of Michigan Cadillac office.
