Ward L. Grant, Jr., age 58, passed away Mon, May 8, 2006 at his home in Stanwood.
He was born Nov 14, 1947 in Muskegon to Ward L. Sr., and Erie Ione (VanOflen) Grant.
Ward worked for Chippewa Beverage of Mt. Pleasant for 14 years and previously at the Giant Store in Big Rapids for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Barb Grant of Stanwood; 3 children, Kelly Grant of Big Rapids, Sheri (Paul) Strpko of Big Rapids, Ward L. III “Bob” (Amanda) Grant of Reed City; step son, Jeff (Susan) DuKavas of Fort Dix, NJ; 10 grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, Katelyn, Lance, and Kelby Strpko, Hannah Scheid, Claudia Francke, Allison, Madison, and Jacob Dukavas; 3 sisters, Susan (Lyle Hindman) Hansen of Ludington, LouAnne (Doug) Brand of Barryton, Mary (Kenneth) Fenton of Shelby; nephew, John Zimmerman of Big Rapids; 2 nieces, Monica Brooks of Midland, Cindy Dudek of Chicago.
Besides his parents, Ward was preceded in death by his brother Frederick in 1954 and a brother-in-law, Jimmy D. Hansen in 1992.
Funeral services will take place at 11am, Thur, May 11 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Wed, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6 to 8pm. Memorial contributions in Ward’s name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
