Walter Ivan Armstrong, 66, passed away peacefully Mar 4, 2003, in Lakeland, FL, surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec 31, 1936, to Walter (Ivan) and Helen (Ulrich) Armstrong in Adrian. Raised in Lenawee County. Walter resided in Kalkaska. Walt worked for many years in Lenawee County and Adrian area as a mechanic. He retired from Thompson McCully a member of Local 324 Operating Engineers. Walt was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church of Kalkaska.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula; children Gary (Colleen) Armstrong of Tecumseh, Doug (Pat) Armstrong of Britton, Sally Voorhees of Comstock Park, Mary (John) Hadley of Tecumseh, Patty (Terry) Benedict of Tecumseh; step-children, Gary (Patti) Ritthaler of Kalkaska, Mary (Matthew) Young of Bellaire; 21 grandchildren; one great grandson; many nieces and nephews; brothers, Larry Armstrong and Leslie Armstrong, sisters, Francis Stegg and Shirley Armstrong; his first wife, Nevie Korte; and a long list of dear friends.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Teresa Ryan; one grandson, Russell; and his second wife, Julia (Jay) Armstrong.
There were memorial services held at Britton Congregational Christian Church in Britton and also in Lakeland.
