Wallce B. Hillman, 75, a resident of Kalkaska since 1990, died Fri, Jun 22, 2001, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Hillman was born in Alabaster on Dec 25, 1925, to John and Carrie Lane Hillman.
A retired General Motors inspector, he lived in Waterford before moving to Kalkaska County. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, and was a member of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684, the Kalkaska Lions Club, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and was very active in Boy Scouts, where he received the Silver Beaver Award. His family remembers him for being full of love, honor, and pride.
Surviving are daughters, Pamela (Kevin) King of Manchester, MO and Carie Marie Herald of Waterford; son Wallace Hillman of Greenville, SC; stepson Clarence Mawhorter of SC; brothers, Maurice Hillman and Elwin Hillman, both of Mancelona; sister, Onalee Isaacs of IN; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A brother, Delbert Hillman, and a stepson, Danny Mawhorter, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Jun 26, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev. Ted Turanski officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska, with graveside services under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
