Vivian M Wells, 74, of Kalkaska, passed away Tue, May 26, 2009 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, LTC. She was born Feb 28, 1935, in Grayling, the daughter of the late E Russell and Grace Viola (Piestow) Wood.
Vivian was owner and operator of Vivian's Restaurant in Kalkaska for over 20 years. She was a very active Kalkaska resident. Vivian served on the National Trout Festival board of directors and was named Kalkaska Citizen of the Year for 1988.
Vivian also was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Kalkaska Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She devoted much of her time volunteering and fundraising for the American Cancer Society, KAIR, North Country Hospice, and the Festival of Trees.
Vivian was a member of the Kalkaska United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and the Kalkaska community she served so well.
Surviving Vivian are her loving children, Kim (Robin) Wells of Valrico, FL, and Amy M (Wm Craig Rudolph) Wells-Davis of Kalkaska; her dear brothers, Ronald R (Janet) Wood of Elk Rapids and Donald E (Charlene) Wood of Kalkaska; her cherished grandchildren, Toby, Rusty, Robby, Bradly, Gregory, and Brandon; two precious great grandchildren, and her former husband, Stanley E Wells.
Visitation for Vivian will be held Fri, May 29, 2009, from 1 to 8 pm at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Sat at noon at the Kalkaska United Methodist Church, with visitation two hours prior to the service.
