Violet Janis Toby, 82, of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully on Fri, May 16, 2008, at home. She was born on Sep 9, 1925, in Medicine Lodge, KS, the daughter of the late Harley and Dixie (O'Brien) Goble.
Violet married Elmer James Toby on Dec 1, 1944, in Barton County, KS. She moved to Kalkaska to be around her son and his family from Estero, FL, and was happy to be here. Violet was a member of the Eastern Star and Daughter of the Nile.
Surviving Violet is her son, Richard D (April Dean) Toby of Fife Lake; her daughter in law, Vanita Toby of Mancelona; her grandchildren, Steven Toby, Michael Toby, Duane Toby, Misty Toby, and James Toby; her great grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon, Johnathon, Jimmy, Destanie, Shawn, and Ricky; and her siblings, Joanne (Edward) Pestinger of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dr. Dallas (Brenda) Goble of Knoxville, TN.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her son, James Donald Toby in 2004.
A memorial service was held on Wed, Apr 21 at 11 am at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with visitation being at 9:30 am. Dan Johnson will officiate from the Kalkaska Church of Christ. Burial will be at Lodi Cemetery.
