Viatt (Vi) Love, 76, of Battle Creek, passed away Nov 18, 2019 at The Laurels of Bedford.
She was born to Philip and Vivian Crane II in Fenton, MI on Aug 12, 1943. Viatt graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1961 and received a BS in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1963.
She married her first husband, Patrick McCann in 1963. She married her second husband, Joseph Shappee in 1989. Both marriages ended in divorce.
Viatt is survived by her son, James McCann along with her daughter in law, Kimberly McCann and three grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda, and Ashley McCann. She is also survived by her special friends, Rhonda Schumacher and family. Viatt was proceeded in death by her father, Philip Crane II; her mother, Vivian Gragg; her stepfather, Howard Gragg; her brother, Philip Crane III who died in Vietnam; and her first husband, Patrick McCann.
Viatt was an elementary teacher in Wayne, MI and Post School in Battle Creek. She was also a substitute teacher for Battle Creek Public Schools and the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools, She loved to read and was involved the Outreach Program at Willard Library. She also loved to swim, dance, walk and to shop for bargains. She especially enjoyed the time she spent going places with her friend Rhonda.
A celebration of life visitation will be held on Sun, Nov 24, 2019 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Courtyard Marriott in Battle Creek. Donations can be made to the Charitable Union in Battle Creek, in lieu of sending flowers. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
