Vernon “Vern” Owen Beardslee, age 80, passed away at his home in Coral on Dec 2, 2015. Vern was born Mar 24, 1935 to Arlo and Hattie (Woolworth) Beardslee in Morley in his families log home. Vern was raised in Lakeview and surrounding areas and graduated from Lakeview High School class of 1953. He married JoAnn Walcutt on Jan 31, 1954 in Lakeview. Vern was a lifelong mechanic.
Vern was an avid outdoorsman. He had little league for girls and boys for several years. He was also a Scout Master for several years. He would take them camping every weekend. He loved fishing. He would take a sleeve of crackers every am and fish on the river for a couple of hours and his limit before he came in and then after dinner, he’d go out again and again in the evening. Then there was hunting. He hunted in Wyoming and Colorado for a few years. In later years Vern and JoAnn spent a few winters in Florida. He started a golf team. He enjoyed deep sea fishing. He was a Post Master of Six Lakes Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Lakeview Congregational United Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School for both the young teens and the adult class.
Vern will be deeply missed by his wife, JoAnn Beardslee of Coral; children, Ginger (Mitch) VanPage, Denise (Allen) Rosebrook, Gene Beardslee, Renee (Marcus) Pigman, and Emily Mitchell; grandchildren, Mitchell and AJ (Katie) VanPage, Seth (Audra) and Brett (Amanda) Rosebrook, Cieara and Landon Beardslee, Marcus and Savannah Pigman, Adam and Drew Mitchell; great grandchildren, Hailey Beardslee, Carson and Ella Rosebrook, and Bryson VanPage; one brother, Irvin (Kay) Beardslee; many friends and church family.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents Arlo and Hattie Beardslee. In accordance to the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of Vern’s life will be announced at a later date.
