Vern Bowen, 68, of Kalkaska, died Fri, Mar 12, 1993, at his residence.
Mr. Bowen moved to Kalkaska County 20 years ago from Holland. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a retired electrician. He was a member of Land O'Lakes Post 8684, V.F.W.
Mr. Bowen was born in Ionia on Nov 23, 1924 to Roy and Ora Ehl Bowen. On Sep 21, 1985, in Spencer, he was married to Ruth Hodges who survives.
Also surviving are one sons, Daniel Bowen of West Olive; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) DeGraaf of Zeeland, and Mrs. Karen White of Mecosta; two step daughters, Mrs. Kimberly Birdsall o Kalamazoo, and Carrie Taylor of Onaway; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delos and Merrill and one sister, Faith.
Funeral services were held Mon, Mar 15, 1993, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Gary Wales, pastor of the East Boardman United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Military rites were provided by Land O'Lakes Post 8684.
