Thomas E. Hockin, 75, of Rapid City, formerly of Flint, passed away on Apr 11, 2011 at the Eden Center at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. Born on Oct 23, 1935, in Genesee County, he was the son of the late James and Viva (Haines) Hockin. Tom was married to Shirley A. (Barnett) Hockin for 55 wonderful years.
Surviving Tom are his children, Michael (Karen) Hockin of Portage, Todd Hockin of Mt. Morris, Michelle (Don) Begley of Grand Blanc, and Tony (Lisa) Hockin of Rapid City; his precious grandchildren, Joseph, Krystina, Amanda, Alex, Max, Lizzie, Michael, Rachel, Abigail, and Joshua; and two sisters, Nancy Rushton of Wolverine and Armeta Eneix of Fenton.
Tom was preceded by his parents and his brother, Jim Hockin.
Tom was a member of the Living Hope Assembly of God Church in Traverse City. He retired from General Motors after a 33-year career. He had many hobbies including basketball, boating, hockey, golf, and above all, Tom loved spending time with is family and friends. Tom will be remembered for his love, devotion, and the never ending pride and loyalty he had towards his wife and family.
A memorial service was held at Living Hope Assembly of God on Mon, Apr 18, 2011 at 1 pm. The service was officiated by Pastor Carey Waldie.
