Thelma J. Brooks, 93, a lifelong resident of the Kalkaska and Fife Lake areas, died Fri, Jan 3, 1997, at Tendercare of Traverse City.
Mrs. Brooks was a seamstress and school teacher.
She enjoyed the outdoors and was affiliated with the Spencer Church of Christ.
Born in Kalkaska Aug 6, 1903, she was the daughter of James and Ethel Wright Cross. On May 9, 1927, she was married to Elger Brooks who preceded her in death on Mar 9, 1965.
Surviving are son Devere Brooks of Kalkaska; daughter Patricia Neuman of Cadillac; brother Merlin Cross of Rapid River; sisters Doris Bateman of Mason and Winifred Fox of Eaton Rapids; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Elger Brooks; daughter Roberta Clark; brother Fay Cross; sister Ila Worden; granddaughter Patricia Denzel; and great granddaughter Crystal Hershberger.
Funeral services were held Jan 6 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Michael Steere, pastor of the Spencer Church of Christ, officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
