Ted Warren of Kalkaska died Wed, Oct 19, 2005 at his home.
He was born in Bancroft, son of the late Perrin Charles and Gladys Mae Warren. A fourth generation farmer, he was raised on the family centennial far, where he carried on the tradition of breeding and showing champion horses and other livestock, until Jun 1994, when he retired and moved to Kalkaska.
Mr. Warren was a 1937 graduate of Bancroft High School. He attended agriculture short courses at Michigan State College. He was a lifelong member of the American Association of Importers and Breeders of Belgian Draft Horses and the Holstein-Friesian Association of America. An accomplished horseman, Mr. Warren assisted in leading the judging teams of the local 4-H Club and the Michigan State College Colt Development Projects, to many top honors.
He enjoyed many victories showing his horses and the other livestock he bred and raised. He retired the coveted Cudahy Trophy at the 1951 Chicago International, and won the Belgian Breeders Trophy at the American Belgian Show the same year.
In Oct 1987, he was honored by The Michigan Great Lakes International Draft Horse Show and Pull for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the draft horse industry in the State of Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Timlick Warren; children and spouses, John and Gladys Marie Warren Arnold of Remus, Michael Perrin and Laura Warren of Ada, OK, Charles Theodore and Stephanie Warren of Bancroft; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters, Marion Durling of Elsie, Frances Durling of Bancroft; brother, William Warren of College Station, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Ina Warren Welmers, Jean Warren Whitney; and a brother, Edward Warren.
A memorial service was held on Fri, Oct 2, at the Cornerstone Community Bible Church of Kalkaska, with the Rev. Dr. Wells Warren officiating and pastors Jeff Badgero and Richard VanBeek assisting. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Warren, Charles Warren, Jeffery Warren, Wicker Warren, J. Wells Warren, James Warren, and W. Michael Warren. The family received friends following the service.
