Former Kalkaska resident Sylvia Sophia Jean, 85, of Onaway, died Oct 31, 2000, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cheboygan.
Mrs. Jean was born Mar 28, 1915, in Cleveland, OH to Victor and Sophia (Autio) Peterson. She married Cyril Jean on Apr 2, 1932 in Detroit.
She had lived in Onaway since 1986, having moved from Kalkaska County.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lutheran Ladies Aid Society, Holy Cross Quilting Club, president of Progressive Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5857 and CETA Hall in Kalkaska.
Surviving are her daughter Doris (Carl) Space of Onaway; son Richard (Patricia) Jean of Lapeer; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cyril in 1984, son Cyril and two grandsons.
Funeral services were Nov 3 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onaway, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska; Rev Harold G Molzan officiated.
Arrangements were made by Chagnon Funeral Home.
