Sophie Marie LaFave, 62, of Kalkaska passed away at her home on Jan 5, 2004. She was born on May 5, 1941, in Detroit, the daughter of Warren and Esther (Jasinski) Wells.
Sophie graduated from St. Cecilia Catholic School in Detroit. She married Larry LaFave on Aug 29, 1959, Sophie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, her cats, reading and knitting and had a true love of books.
Sophie is survived by Larry, her husband of 44 years; her children, Patricia (Mark) McCormick of Fenton, Margaret (Charles) Durga of Traverse City, and Edward LaFave of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Mark, Michelle, Matthew, Mackenzie, Morgan, and Mason, and brothers, David Wells and Donald Wells, both of Farmington Hills.
Preceding Sophie in death were her parents and brother, Kenneth Wells.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Jan 9 at St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Interment was on Jan 10 at Holy Sepulchre in the mausoleum in Farmington Hills.
