Sophie Marie Teets, 90, formerly of Metamora passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Punta Gorda, FL on Thu, Mar 11, 2010. Born Apr 6, 1919 in San Antonio, TX to Felix and Maria Oritz, she was the oldest of 6 children. She med Edmund Teets, fell in love and married him on Nov 11, 1939. They moved to Pontiac in 1948 where their three oldest children graduated from Pontiac Northern. They later moved to Metamora in 1964 where their youngest child graduated from Lapeer High School. Edmund preceded her in death in September of 1973. Sophie enjoyed working at Industrial Machine Products in Oxford where she later retired from. She moved to Florida 5 years ago with her son to stay warm and keep away of the snow and cold. Some of Sophie’s favorite things to do in Punta Gorda were to feed her cows treats every day, work in her garden, and sit by her pond with her dog Mickey.
She leaves behind 4 children, Jim (Donna) Teets of Imlay City, Marylou (Brad) Hale of Falmouth, MI, Donald (Mary) Teets of Punta Gorda, FL and Della (Rod) Patrick of Waterford; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She will be missed forever by her entire loving family and her many friends.
A memorial service was held on Tue, Mar 16th in Punta Gorda Florida. There will also be a memorial held later this summer in Sandusky, MI at our annual family reunion.
