Sharon A. Root, 53, of Kalkaska lost her valiant fight with cancer May 2, 2000 at home.
She was born Apr 21, 1947, in Hazel Park at Mikey Hospital, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Clancey) Thayer, of Caseville, who survive her.
Sharon had resided in Kalkaska for the past 20 years, moving here from Clawson. On Aug 19, 1988, she married Ivan (Ted) Root, who also survives her.
She dearly loved her job and the people she worked with at Coding Products Inc of Kalkaska. Sharon was employed there for the past nine years as a chopper and packer in the hot stamp division.
Sharon loved her dogs, birds, horses and various other animals she has had over the years. She also loved being outdoors, at work in her flower bed.
She is also survived by her brother Charles of Sterling Heights; sister Shiela Thayer of Kalkaska; daughter Andrea (Randy) Emmons of Kalkaska; son William (Jody Foster) Campbell of Kalkaska; stepdaughters Connie (Tim Shutler) Hess of Grawn, Carey Root of Mancelona, and Becky Root of Traverse City; grandchildren Richard Harner, Thomas Brown Jr, William Campbell, Kaylee Campbell, Spencer Campbell, Dustin Hess and Keith Printice; as well as many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services were May 6 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Pastor Andrew Schmidt officiated.
