Samuel H. Hoiles, II, 81, of Rapid City, died Tue, Oct 26, 1993, at his residence.
Moving from Douglaston, Long Island, New York, Mr. Hoiles has been a resident of the Antrim-Kalkaska County area since 1967. He served as a medical technician in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a former member of the Elk Rapids Rotary Club. He was a retired land developer and concert pianist.
Born in Alliance, OH on Dec 7, 1911, the son of Frank and Alice Jones Hoiles. On Oct 3, 1936, in New York, he was married to Mary Stahler who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Samuel H. Hoiles, III of Rapid City; one daughter, Mary Hoiles, Jr of Traverse City; one brother, Frank Hoiles of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Margaret Gose of Sebring, FL, Winifred Coe of Sebring, OH, and Josephine Peterson of Alliance, OH, and two grandchildren, Abigail and Samuel F. Hoiles both of Rapid City.
One brother, Arthur J. Hoiles, preceded him in death.
The body has been donated to the Michigan State University Department of Anatomy and no services are planned at this time.
