Ruth M Borst, 75, died Sat, Nov 3, 2001 at her home in Mancelona. Funeral services will be Thu, Nov 8, 2001 at 2 pm at Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool of the Antrim Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be in Star Township Cemetery in Alba.
She was born Feb 13, 1926 in Alba, the daughter of Lewis E and Anna (Barnett) Shannon.
Ruth worked for 15 years at Golf and Western in Mancelona, now known as Dura. She also worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Traverse City and independently. She was a member of Antrim Church of Christ. She enjoyed golfing, walking, biking, dancing, snowmobiling, skiing, and bump jumping.
She is survived by three daughters, Gloria Jean (Ronald) Golden of Kalkaska, Judy (Hod) Alexander of Mancelona, and Sandra (Chuck Rebone) Scholl of Kalkaska; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one brother, Melvin (Pat) Shannon of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her second husband, William "Bill" Borst on Nov 27, 1971, one son, Richard "Rick" Vandergriff on Dec 29, 1988; grandson, William James Luton in 1998; one granddaughter, Carla Kay Schnabelt on Dec 25, 1985 and two brothers, Ralph and Clifford Shannon.
The family will receive friends on Wed from 6 to 8 pm at Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in Mancelona. Memorials may be given to Antrim Church of Christ.
