Ruth Roop, 58, of Cedar Run Road, Traverse City, a former Kingsley resident, died Mon morning at Munson Medical Center after a lingering illness. The daughter of Nellie and Adolphus Aldridge, she was born at Walton Junction on Jul 9, 1916. She was married to William R. Roop on Jun 15, 1937.
Mrs. Roop was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Traverse City.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband William, on January 19, 1966; and a brother, Mancel Aldridge.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Lena) Huston of Traverse City; a son, Delbert Roop of Traverse City; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Clarice M. Hicks of Manton and Port Richey, FL, Mrs. Gerald (Varden) Akers of Muskegon, Mrs. Edward (Julia) Roop and Mrs. Donna Lewis, both of Kingsley; and four brothers, Thomas Aldridge of Traverse City, Elbridge Aldridge of Kingsley, Basil Aldridge of Muskegon and Adolphus Aldridge of Cape Hatteras, NC; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2pm Wed at Smith Funeral Home, Kingsley, with the Rev. Gerald Schulich of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingsley.
