Russell Gerring, “Tuffy”, of South Boardman died Sat, Dec 14, 2013 surrounded by his family.
A burial service for Russell will be held in the Boardman Township Cemetery on Sat, May 17, 2014 at 2:30pm Russell (who his family lovingly referred to as Pa) was 77 years old. He was born in South Boardman the son of Harry and Ethel (Filley) Gerring. He graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1955. In 1957 he married Faith Edna (Brunett). They were married for over 56 years. He is survived by Faith; their three children, Vicky Jasper (Kevin), Jeff Gerring (Cindy), and Lisa McDaniel (James); six grandchildren, Ben Birgy (Rachael), Erica Siejutt, Nick Gerring, Kyle Jasper, Nathan McDaniel, and Nellie McDaniel; and five great-grandchildren, Beck, London and Esme Birgy and Rylee and Jackson Siejutt. Russ was a jack of all trades. He worked as a carpenter and electrician. He built more than 10 houses doing everything from the ground up. He worked in the oil field and was on the Kalkaska Sheriff Auxiliary in the early 1970’s. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, working on his 1951 Ford and the outdoors. The one thing that Pa loved and was most proud of was his family.
