Russell E. Titus, 67, of Kalkaska, passed away Mon, Mar 23, 2009, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. He was born Jan 26, 1942, in Laingsburg, MI to Russell Frank and Florence (Walters) Titus.
Russ married the former Judy Mae Root on Feb 8, 1969, in Kalkaska. Together, they raised three wonderful daughters. Russ was a past reserve officer of the Kalkaska Village Police Department for many years. He also served the community for many years as a member of the Kalkaska Fire Department.
Russ was an umpire for Little League baseball and softball and an official for volleyball. Always willing to help out in any way he could, Russ assisted in transporting supplies for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
He was a member of the National Bass Anglers Association and was the national points champion two years in a row.
Russ loved the great outdoors and went hunting in the UP for many years. He attended the Kalkaska Church of Christ.
Russ was a very special man and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Russ is his devoted wife of 40 years, Judy; his wonderful daughters, Stacey L (Doug) Hicks of Middleville, Teresa L (Ken) Cavanaugh of Kalkaska, and Loriann R. Dorman of Kalkaska; his loving siblings, Deborah (Mike) Titus of CT and Joseph (Kathy) Titus of Marne; his dear mother, Florence Titus of Tustin and seven precious grandchildren.
Preceding Russ in death were his father and his sister, Patricia Wagenschutz.
Visitation for Russ will be held Wed, Mar 25, 2009, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thu at 2 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Johnson, of the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
