Russel V Soule, 102, a resident of Kalkaska since 1967, died Wed, Mar 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born in Romeo on Sep 30, 1898, the son of Benjamin and Maude Dunlap Soule. He married Mabel Dingman in 1966, and she preceded him in death on Feb 2, 2001.
Mr. Soule resided in Romeo until moving to Kalkaska County. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He served in France with the United States Army during WWI, and received the Chevalier of the National Order of the Leagion of Honor award, which is the highest French military decoration.
Surviving are son Benjamin (Elaine) Soule of Florida; sister, Mildred Stafford of Troy; 11 grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Russel's body has been donated to the Michigan State University College of Medicine, and no services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Amicare Homecare and Hospice, 125 Michigan Avenue, Grayling, MI 49738.
