Mrs. Ruby M. Root, 80, of Kalkaska, died Sat, May 17, 1997, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Root spent her early years in Kalkaska, and then lived in Jackson and Grand Rapids until returning to Kalkaska in 1969.
Born in Kalkaska on Apr 6, 1917, she was the daughter of Clarence and Nellie Morris Hamacher. On Jul 2, 1950, in South Boardman, she married Earl Root who survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by son, Bruce (Lorraine) Nelson of Grand Rapids; daughter, Cheryl Shields of FL; brother, Max (Ruth) Hamacher of Hudsonville; sister Arlene (Gilbert Perrin) Gyurkovitz of Wyoming; grandchildren, Rick Nelson of Grand Rapids and Chris Cornell of FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sisters, Dorothy Hamacher and Reatha Parker, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
