Ruby J. LaCross, 60, of Suttons Bay, died Tuesday at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Suttons Bay, she was the daughter of Louis Leabo and Josephine Olson, and the stepdaughter of Peter Herman. On June 6, 1959, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Suttons Bay, she married Edward “Clyde” LaCross.
Ruby, a homemaker, was a lifetime resident of the Suttons Bay area. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Community Mental Health Board, Red Cross Blood Drive, and the St. Michael’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly J. (Dale) Forton of Kansas Mo., and Michelle R. LaCross of Towerhill Adult Foster Care in Traverse City; a son, Timothy E. (Laurie) of Suttons Bay; two sistres, Betty (Loren) Groesser of Ellsworth and Lynn L. Leabo of Traverse City; a brother Danny (Dorothy) Herman of Traverse City; and five grandchildren, Katlyn M. LaCross, Melissa A. Herman, Robert A. Herman, Eliot J. Forton, and Avery E. Forton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis in 1973 and Josephine in 1998; a stepfather, Pete Herman in 1989; her husband, Edward in 1994; a son, Todd LaCross; and a sister, Maxine J. Steuer.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, where a Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church; the Rev. Wayne Dziekan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
