Robert William Parker, 83, loving husband and father, passed away on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at Oakwood Hospital. Robert was born on Nov 8, 1926 in Detroit, the son of the late William and Ivy (Withey) Parker. On Apr 12, 1947, he married Beulah Hesson in Detroit. They were married for 55 years. The couple lived in Detroit, Lincoln Park, Taylor, and Sterling Heights before moving to Kalkaska in 1991. After Beulah's passing, Robert spent the last four years in Florida with his son and daughter in law (Gordon and Chris).
Robert served two years in the Navy until WWII ended. He worked for National Biscuit where he met Beulah. He retired as a machinist with the Detroit News in 1990 after 37 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, woodworking, lapidary work and watching baseball. He enjoyed making pieces of jewelry for his family and even sold some to various jewelry stores.
Surviving Robert are his children, Alan (Helen) Parker of Traverse City, Gordon (Chris) Parker of St Petersburg, FL, Bruce (Sandi) Parker of Fife Lake, and Beverly (Jeff) Evans of Lincoln Park; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his brother, Wesley (Joyce) of Sterling Heights.
Visitation will be held on Thu, Mar 18 from 5 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Fri at 1 pm with Pastor Kim Hough officiating. Military honors will be provided by Kalkaska VFW Post 8684. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
