Robert W “Bob” Christie, age 98, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sun, Feb 17, 2019, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility. Bob was born Jan 24, 1921, in Edmonton, KY, a son of Claude and Ethel (McFarland) Christie. He was raised in Edmonton, later moving to Indianapolis for a brief time, before returning to Edmonton. At age 16, he left home and joined the Civilian Edmonton. At age 16, he left home and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He spent some time in Springfield, IL, helping out a farmer until he could raise enough money to move to Chicago. There he was drafted into the US Army, serving during WWII in Iran. Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Chicago before another move to Flint, MI to be near his sister. While residing in Flint, he met his future wife, Dorothy, who was then working at Bell Telephone. Following their marriage, Bob was employed for 16 years with General Motors before deciding to pursue a full time career in real estate. Bob then established his own real estate firm with two locations, one in Flint, MI and the other in Naples, FL. He loved working in real estate and found it to be his true passion, continuing to work into his early 80s. Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; a son, Bob Christie Marquette; a grandson, Jason (Becky) Christie of Morrisville, NC; three great grandchildren, Owen, Liberty, and Layla Christie all of Morrisville, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Christie; his daughter in law, Ruthann Christie; and his three sisters, Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Park Cemetery.
