Robert L. Poe, 48, of Pontiac, legislative lobbyist for the Michigan CIO Council, died Friday in Sessions Hospital in Northville following a heart attack Thursday night.
Poe, a charter member of the United Automobile Workers (CIO), suffered the fatal heart attack in route to Lansing after a high school football game. He went to Northville to watch his sun Arthur, play for Washington Junior High school.
A Lobbyist for the CIO Council for the past 12 years, Poe also was a former president of the Pontiac Industrial Union Council.
He was active in the organization of the UAW’s Fisher Body local in 1936 and 1937.
Poe is survived by his wife, Vera; four sons, Arthur, Robert, Jr, Walter, of Pontiac, and Fred of Littlecreek, VA, and a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Aldrich of Pontiac.
Funeral services will be held in Pontiac at 3 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery in Pontiac.
