Robert L Morris, lifelong resident of Kalkaska, passed away at his home on Sat, Oct 17, 2003.
Bob was one of nine children born to John and Opal (Lense) Morris on May 22, 1936. He attended school in Kalkaska and graduated in 1954.
After working 20 years for a pipeline distribution company, he started his own company with the help of his sons. It prospered and provided many jobs for area residents. Today, R.L. Morris & Sons Construction Company is in its third decade providing employment under the ownership of his son.
Bob looked forward to his daily coffee and conversation with his many friends. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed "occasional" trips to a casino. The lives of so many were touched by Bob. Those who were fortunate enough to know him well will always remember his extra sharp wit and his "gigantic" heart. His generosity was immeasurable.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters, Thelma Thomas, Vera Roote, and Wilma Adkins.
Surviving are his children, Greg (Jo) Morris of Williamsburg, Rory Morris of Kalkaska, and Cindi Morris of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, and Kwin Morris of Williamsburg and Haley Morris of Garden City; brothers, Glen and Harold of Kalkaska; and sisters, Edith Dusten and Doris McLean of Kalkaska and Marilyn Strong of Eastport.
Visitation was Oct 22, 2003, at Wolfe Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Oct 23 at Kalkaska Church of Christ with Dan Johnson officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
