Robert E Clements Sr, 77, of New Castle, IN, died Wed, Dec 2, 1998 at Hancock Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Services will be at 11 am Sat at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Larry Langer will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm Saturday in Mount Etna Cemetery near Huntington, IN.
Mr. Clements was born on Aug 8, 1921, in Warren, IN to Alva Earl and Nellie (Watkin) Clements.
He was a veteran of the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle East Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, presidential citation, Combat Infantry Badge, American Theater of Operations Ribbon and Good Conduct and Victory Medals.
He married Gerri Needler on Jul 21, 1946.
He had lived at New Castle for 21 years. He founded, owned and operated Trico Glass and Mirror Co in New Castle for 12 Years, retiring in 1987. He formerly worked for Ohio Plate Glass Co. in Fort Wayne, IN, for 20 years.
He was a member of the Fort Wayne and Hartford City, IN, Elks, The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hartford City and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Candace “Candy” Clements of San Diego; one son, Dr. Robert Clements, Jr of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Needler of Hartford City and Carol Ann (Mrs. Henry).
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger.
