Robert Edward Cork, age 91, of Sandusky, died Fri, Nov 13, 2009 at McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky.
He was born Jun 21, 1918 in Speaker Township, Peck, the son of Charles and Margaret (Bruce) Cork.
He was a 1936 graduate of Yale High School; he attended the University of Michigan and earned his Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University in 1944.
Robert married Imogene Tenniswood on Dec 29, 1945 in Yale.
Robert was actively involved in the community and gave generously of his time, talents, and financial contributions to many local causes.
He was a lifelong area resident and owned and operated Cork Implement for approximately 35 years. Robert was a member of the Sandusky First United Methodist Church, the Custer Masonic Lodge #393, a founding member of the McKenzie Memorial Hospital, and served on the hospital board. He was a founding member of the Woodland Hills Golf Club serving as president and a member of the past presidents of the Lions Club. He was president of the Michigan Farm Equipment Dealers Association and served on the board of the National Farm Equipment Dealers Association.
He is survived by his wife Imogene, Charles Cork & Patricia Roglin (son) of AZ, John & Susan Cork (son) of AZ, Kathryn & Farhad Shokoohi (daughter) of Saginaw, James Cork & Diana Chavez (son) of AZ; nine grandchildren, Constance Cork, Robert C. Cork, Laura Porter, Emilie Cork, Nathan Cork, Marcy Sturtz, Nicholas Shokoohi, Joshua Cork, and James Cork.
Robert had eight grand-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Gordon, Bruce, Allan, and a sister, Marguerite Ruoff.
Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
Memorial services will be held Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 11am at Sandusky First United Methodist Church with Rev. Colin Stover officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sandusky High School FFA Robert Cork Memorial Scholarship Fund, Sandusky First United Methodist Church, or McKenzie Memorial Hospital.
