Robert D "Bob" Smithingell, 56, of Kalkaska, passed away on Mar 6, 2007, at Munson Medical Center. He was born Aug 5, 1950, in Petoskey, the son of the late Wilford and Betty (Henderson) Smithingell.
A lifelong resident of Kalkaska, Bob married Judy Marie Kelly on May 18, 1974, in Kalkaska. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed near Germany. In 2000, Bob retired from Laborers Local 1098 of Saginaw and then went to work for R.L. Morris at the Merrit Gas Plant.
Bob enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and listening to country music. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving Bob is his wife of 32 years, Judy; his children, Jennifer M (Paul) King and Robert M (Rebecca Elsenheimer) Smithingell of Kalkaska; grandchildren, Rebecca Jane King, Kevin Michael King, and Bailey McKinzie Smithingell; brother, Leroy W "Sonny" (Ginger) Smithingell of South Boardman; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Bob was held on Thu, Mar 8, at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Funeral services were Fri, Mar 9, at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Gay of the Torch Lake Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring when the weather permits.
