Robert D. Kimball, 55, owner of Kimball’s Market and a lifelong resident of Fife Lake, died Wednesday at his home.
He became the owner of Kimball’s Market in Fife Lake in 1972, continuing the family business for the third generation.
A charter member of the Fife Lake Chamber of Commerce, he was a trustee of the Fife Lake Village Council and a member of the Fife Lake Village Council and a member of the Fife Lake School Board for many years.
He also was secretary of the Manistee River Association and a member and former officer of the Fife Lake American Legion, having served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1956 to 1958. He enjoyed his family, golfing and bowling.
Born Apr 5, 1934, in Fife Lake, he was the son of Robert and Orna (Perrigo) Kimball. On Jun 11, 1955, in Fife Lake, he married the former Mae Williams, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, Kevin D. Kimball of Fife Lake, one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Dianna) Voice of Fife Lake; one brother, William B. Kimball of East Canton, OH; one sister, Sharon Byrns of Fife Lake; two granddaughters and one grandson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Franklin D. McInerney.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Friday at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. The Rev. Lloyd Jewett will officiate. Burial will be in Fife Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today at the funeral home.
