Robert C. Compher, 61, of Kalkaska, died Thu, Dec 23, 1993, at his residence.
Mr. Compher resided in Marion until 18 years ago when he moved to Kalkaska. He retired in 1987 as a heavy equipment operator with the Michigan Department of Transportation following 21 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Marion V.F.W. Post. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Compher was born in Rhinelander, WI on Oct 16, 1932, to Charles and Helen Matson Compher. He was married to Janet Dunlap in Lansing on Jul 6, 1962.
Surviving are his wife, Janet; one son, Clifford Compher of Kalkaska; four daughters, Linda McMichael of Huntington, IN, Roxane Wood of Naples, FL, Kristine Snyder of Kalkaska, and Victoria Brown of Ft. Worth, TX; and 13 grandchildren.
One sister, Karen Hart, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Mon, Dec 27, 1993, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Ted Turanski, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiated. Military rites were under the auspices of Land O'Lakes V.F.W. Post 8684. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.
