Robert “Burr” Mitchell, age 92, a lifelong resident of Lapeer, passed away Monday (November 10, 2008). He was born April 23, 1916 in North Branch to Robert and Sarah (Burr) Mitchell. He married Lila Mae Stacy on April 25, 1959 in Hadley. Mr. Mitchell retired in 1981 from General Motors, as a Machine Repairman. He farmed most all of his life and truly enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Lila Mitchell of Lapeer; children, Cheryl (Kenneth) Mason of Lapeer, Patricia (Charles) Phelps of Columbiaville, Burr (Sherry) Mitchell or Rudyard, MI, Mary Mitchell of Succasunna, NJ, Stacy (Ann) Mitchell of Columbiaville and Jack (Helen) Humble of Peck; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Nathan (Bernice) Mitchell of Davison, Esther Hillier of Lapeer, Joan Groves of Flushing and Sarah (John) Hill of Metamora; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Humble; parents, Robert and Sarah Mitchell; siblings, Azalea Reamer, James Mitchell and Robert “Sandy” Mitchell. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Visitation will be 1-4 pm, 5-8pm, Wednesday (November 12, 2008) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Funeral services will be 11am, Thursday (November 13, 2008) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home. Pastor Daryl Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Green Corners Cemetery, Hadley.
