Rita Sizemore, 89, of Mancelona, entered into her eternal home in Heaven on Wed, Jul 7, 2010. Mrs. Sizemore passed away at the Kalkaska Memorial Heath Center in the late morning hours with her children and family by her side.
Rita was born on Oct 27, 1920 in Mancelona, MI, the daughter of Michael and Grace (Cavender) Kiel.
Rita made Mancelona her home, where she raised her eight children, and where she also worked 30 and a half years for Gulf & Western.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was known for her baking. She was a member of the Mancelona Free Methodist Church where she loved teaching Sunday School with her children in attendance as well as other children of the community.
Rita spent the last four years of her life residing at Senior Haven in Kalkaska where she made many new friends and was reunited with her childhood friend, Gerri Peck.
Rita is survived by six of her children, Grace (AJ) Curry of Kalkaska, Ethel Root of Kalkaska, Carl (Sylvia) Sizemore of Belding, Dennis (Linda) Sizemore of Mancelona, Robert (Sharon) Sizemore of Mt Vernon, KY, and Steve Sizemore of Lake City. She is also survived by her half brother, Dud Seabolt of Muskegon; 33 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by both her parents; two brothers, Leon and Elton Kiel; seven sisters, Sylvia Rhode, Eunice Fisher, Ruth Knapp, Erma Stingley, Lillian Baker, Crystal Pontz, and Thelma Root. She is also preceded in death by her two sons, Ronald in 1945 and Dale in 2008.
Funeral Services were held on Sat, Jul 10 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral HOmes. Reverend Gerald Cook officiated. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
