Richard Lee Snyder, 61, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Hospice House. Rick was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Fife Lake, to Wilber E. and Dorothy E. (Timmins) Snyder.
After graduating from Kalkaska High School in 1962, Rick worked in hospitals and restaurants. In 1965, Rick went to work in production at General Motors, where he retired after 32 years.
Rick loved dogs, especially German Shepherds. He also enjoyed renovating houses, raising and driving Morgan Horses and gardening.
Rick is survived by his mother, Dorothy Snyder of Traverse City; “second Mom”, Freda Gubanche of North Branch; friend, Stephen Gubanche of Buckley; sisters, Bonnie (Cecil) Kinder and Connie Kirsch, both of Traverse City; brothers, Bill (Karen) Snyder and Michael (Sheila) Snyder, also of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan 9 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior, also at the Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home. The Rev. Fr. Peter Eke will be the presider. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
