Richard H. (Bert) Hall, 79, a resident of Oakville for 53 years, died Saturday in a McCleary hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1895, in Cheney and was a graduate of Eastern Washington State College. He taught school in Rochester for two years and at Oakville for 35 years; retiring in 1958. Mr. Hall was a veteran of World War I, was a charter member of Cheney Post No. 72, a past commander and long-time finance officer of the William T. Hyder Post No. 18, a charter member and past quartermaster of Barracks No. 188 of Aberdeen, a member of the Oakville Barracks No. 1476, a member and past Chef de Care of the Lewis County Voiture No 83 of the 40 et 8, and a member of the National Retired Teachers Assn. He also served as a mayor of Oakville for two terms. In 1922 he married the former Alta Jeffery. She survives at the family home. Other survivors include three sons, John R. Hall, Oakville, Eugene E. Hall, Greendale, Wis., and Stanley H. Hall, Spokane; a sister, Martha Davis, Yakima; a brother, James T. Hall, Cloverdale, Ore.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, starting at 2 p.m., in the Oakville Cemetery. Members of the Lewis County Voiture No. 83 of the 40 et 8 will officiate. The family suggests any remembrances be made in the form of donations to the Nurses’ Scholarship Fund of the voiture of the 40 et 8, in care of John Neilson, 2508 Sharon St, Centralia, 98531.
